Traveling with L’Officina dei Giardini: Milan to discover
October 25, 2024
Milan is a city that never ceases to amaze. Elegant and dynamic, it knows how to mix art, history and modernity like few others in the world. In this itinerary, we invite you to explore the Lombard capital through our favourite perspective: the creations by L’Officina dei Giardini, master craftsmen of greenery and outdoor design. Among winter gardens, pergolas and terraces, every corner tells a story of refined details and harmony with the surrounding environment.
The heart of fashion: Ralph Lauren boutique in via della Spiga
The first step of this journey starts from the heart of Milanese luxury, the famous Via della Spiga, where the Ralph Lauren boutique overlooks the shop windows of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses. Here, L’Officina dei Giardini welcomes you right from the entrance as it has created the spectacular series of outdoor vases to accompany the shop windows. Inside, it has created a self-supporting steel pergola with square-section poles, rectangular-section perimeter beams and custom-designed decorative brackets. The first roof was made with a motorised mobile awning, recently replaced with a system of adjustable slats, combining design and functionality. This space, with furnishings designed by L’Officina dei Giardini and created to guarantee maximum thermal and acoustic comfort, becomes an oasis of relaxation between shopping trips.
The Quadrilatero della Moda (Fashion Quadrilateral) is the realm of elite shopping: a stroll is enough to breathe in the timeless elegance of Milan. For a break between shops, the nearby Brera Art Gallery offers refuge for art lovers, with masterpieces by Raphael and Caravaggio.
Art and relaxation on Corso Venezia: Portrait Milan
Your itinerary continues with a stop at Portrait Milano, an elegant Lungarno Collection
property located on Corso Venezia. The hotel, built inside an old seminary, boasts a refined and contemporary aesthetic, enhanced by the creations of L’Officina dei Giardini. The four treillage panels, custom-designed to frame the outdoor spaces, are the epitome of understated, timeless elegance.
Don’t miss a visit to the nearby Villa Necchi Campiglio, a masterpiece of rationalist architecture and 1930s style. Here, art and design dialogue as perfectly as in the surrounding gardens.
A haven for food and design lovers: Cavoli a Merenda!
If you are looking for a break in genuine cuisine and refined design, Cavoli a Merenda!, located on via Bergognone, is the perfect place. This delightful bistro combines tradition and modernity, just like an iron and glass garden created by L’Officina dei Giardini, which transforms the terrace into a cosy and bright place. We are in the lively Tortona district, the beating heart of Milanese creativity. Here, during Milan Design Week, the Fuorisalone takes place, an event that attracts artists and designers from all over the world. Not far away, the MUDEC – Museo delle Culture awaits you with its contemporary art exhibitions and year-round cultural events.
Apulian dinner in the heart of Porta Romana: Ristorante Moscara Terra d’Otranto
For a special dinner, Ristorante Moscara Terra d’Otranto,
in Via Lamarmora, will let you discover the authentic flavours of Puglia in an elegant and refined setting. The polygonal steel structure and the three-pitch roof, designed by L’Officina dei Giardini, create a unique and cosy ambience. In the Porta Romana district, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed, but still elegant. A few steps away from the restaurant, you can relax at the Terme di Milano spa or visit the Fondazione Prada, one of the most important exhibition spaces for contemporary art worldwide.
A hidden gem: Restaurant Delicatessen
IFinally, to end your Milan weekend on a high note, pop into Ristorante Delicatessen, on Via Pacini. This corner of South Tyrolean taste is a perfect mix of tradition and modernity. The intervention by L’Officina dei Giardini, which created a winter garden in the inner courtyard, has transformed the restaurant into a little green paradise, ideal for an intimate dinner or a business lunch. A final stroll along the picturesque Navigli, famous for its canalside cafés and art galleries, will be the best way to say goodbye to your surprising and unusual Milan.
See you on the next itinerary!
